Praneeth antilia wall demolition

Demolition of Compound Wall at Praneeth Antilia

On March 9, 2026, the Hyderabad Development Authority (HYDRAA) demolished a compound wall at Praneeth Antilia, a residential layout in Bachupally, Hyderabad. This action was taken under police protection and followed directions from the Telangana High Court, aiming to restore access to a 40-foot road that had been blocked for years.

The demolition has significantly reduced the commuting distance for residents, cutting it from 8 kilometers to just 3 kilometers. This change is expected to ease traffic congestion, particularly in light of increased congestion following the opening of Exit 4 on the Outer Ring Road.

According to A.V. Ranganath, a representative from HYDRAA, “Removing the compound wall and opening the road would help ease traffic congestion and benefit thousands of residents in the surrounding areas.” However, the residents of Praneeth Antilia have expressed their concerns regarding safety and the implications of this change.

For over 12 years, residents of Praneeth Antilia have enjoyed the benefits typically associated with gated communities, despite the layout being sanctioned as a group housing project rather than a gated community. Ranganath noted, “Praneeth Antilia is not a Gated Community as per HMDA approved plan,” emphasizing the legal status of the layout.

The compound wall had previously been demolished by HYDRAA on June 24, 2025, but was rebuilt, leading to ongoing disputes over road access. Residents protested against the recent demolition, claiming it compromises their safety and the quality of life they have come to expect.

In response to complaints about road blockage, HYDRAA issued notices to remove the compound wall, which has now been executed. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has also begun laying a BT road along the cleared stretch, further emphasizing the importance of this infrastructure project.

As the situation unfolds, observers are keen to see how the changes will impact the daily lives of Praneeth Antilia residents and the surrounding communities. While the immediate benefits of reduced commuting distance are clear, the long-term implications for safety and community dynamics remain to be fully understood. Details remain unconfirmed.
