Baramulla Police Seizes 1.7 Kilograms of Charas in Kunzer

In a significant operation, Baramulla Police recovered approximately 1.7 kilograms of charas in the Chichilora area of Kunzer during a routine patrol on March 24. The police intercepted a suspicious vehicle, leading to the arrest of one suspect, while another managed to escape.

During the operation, police found 27 grams of charas from the driver, identified as Waheed Sultan. Further investigation revealed that around 1.690 kilograms of charas powder was recovered from the residence of the absconding suspect, highlighting the ongoing challenges in combating drug-related activities in the region.

A case has been registered under FIR No.35/2026 at Police Station Kunzer, underscoring the police’s commitment to addressing the drug menace that has plagued the area. Baramulla Police have reiterated their dedication to curbing illegal drug activities and ensuring community safety.

In a separate incident, Jammu and Kashmir Police disposed of a live artillery shell found in the Kalgai forest area of Uri, near the Line of Control. A Bomb Disposal Squad team was deployed to neutralize the shell, ensuring the safety of local residents.
