AIIMS Mangalagiri Celebrates Graduation of New Medical Professionals

AIIMS Mangalagiri, a beacon of medical education in Andhra Pradesh, has recently celebrated a significant milestone by conferring degrees on 49 MBBS graduates, five MD/MS postgraduate students, and four Post-Doctoral Certificate Course students. Since its inception in 2018 with an initial intake of just 50 MBBS students, the institution has grown remarkably, now accommodating 748 students with an annual intake of 125.

The growth of AIIMS Mangalagiri is not just in numbers; it reflects a commitment to enhancing healthcare in the region. With a staggering 31 lakh outpatient department (OPD) consultations completed, the hospital currently sees a daily footfall of around 3,500 to 4,000 patients, showcasing its vital role in the community.

In a recent development, the hospital has taken a significant step forward in patient care by installing a Nucleic Acid Amplification Testing (NAAT) system, the first of its kind among all AIIMS in South India. This advanced system, which cost approximately ₹1.73 crore, is designed to detect viral RNA/DNA with high sensitivity, enabling early identification of infections such as HIV, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C.

Anupriya Patel, a prominent figure in the government, emphasized the Union government’s commitment to prioritizing the medical sector under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. “The Union government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is giving utmost priority to the medical sector,” she stated, highlighting the ongoing efforts to improve healthcare access for the underprivileged.

Ahanthem Singh, a key representative at the event, remarked on the importance of the NAAT system, stating, “The NAAT system enhances safety by significantly reducing the diagnostic window period.” This advancement is expected to greatly benefit patients by providing quicker and more accurate diagnoses.

As AIIMS Mangalagiri continues to evolve, the future looks promising for both its students and the patients they will serve. Observers anticipate that the institution will further enhance its capabilities and expand its services, contributing to the overall improvement of healthcare in the region.

With its ongoing commitment to education and patient care, AIIMS Mangalagiri stands as a testament to the transformative power of healthcare initiatives in India. The community looks forward to witnessing the impact of these new graduates as they step into their roles as healthcare professionals.
