Bomb Threat Leads to Evacuation at Parul University

“So far, nothing suspicious has been found on the campus, but sanitising the entire campus will take a couple of hours,” stated a police officer responding to a bomb threat that disrupted operations at Parul University in Vadodara, India, on March 10, 2026.

The threat was communicated via an email that prompted immediate evacuation of the campus, affecting over 65,000 students enrolled in various courses. The university had to cancel internal examinations scheduled for that day, which will now be rescheduled for the day following the conclusion of the current exam timetable.

In response to the threat, police teams from the Local Crime Branch, Special Operations Group, and Waghodia Police Station were deployed to the scene. The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad conducted a thorough search of the campus, ultimately reporting that no explosives were found.

The bomb threat email was traced back to hacked Outlook and Hotmail accounts, raising concerns about email security and identity verification processes at the university. This incident is part of a broader pattern, as multiple bomb threat emails were sent to various government departments across the state.

Ahmedabad cybercrime teams are currently investigating the email trail linked to the threats. The situation caused significant traffic congestion in the Waghodia area as students and staff evacuated the premises.

The incident has highlighted vulnerabilities in email security protocols, prompting discussions on the need for improved identity checks to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

As the investigation continues, university officials are expected to implement measures to enhance campus safety and security. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
