Postponement of Jana Nayagan Screening
The screening for the film Jana Nayagan, scheduled by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for March 9, 2026, at 2 pm, has been postponed due to a committee member falling ill.
KVN Productions, the film’s production company, received official notification about the rescheduling on March 8, 2026. This delay marks another setback for the film, which has faced numerous hurdles since its initial planned release on January 9, 2026.
The postponement follows a formal complaint filed by a member of the original committee regarding the film’s depiction of religious sentiments and the use of armed forces logos. In response, the CBFC chairman directed the film to a revising committee for further scrutiny.
The filmmakers had previously submitted a letter to the Madras High Court registry seeking to withdraw their legal case against the CBFC, which had added to the film’s prolonged review process.
Since the evaluation by the CBFC committee in December 2025, the film has remained unreleased, drawing significant attention within the industry and among fans. Speculation suggests that the film may be scheduled for re-release in June 2026, although no official confirmation regarding the re-release date has been provided by the makers.
